Yeah. I think people made the connection between her makeover and Brody, and hated everything. Her clothes and makeup weren’t the problem. The real issue was the person who inspired it.I’ve…
Lea Michele Applause: Brunette Ambition -
Lea Michele’s book won’t be a novel. It’s described as a “part memoir, part how-to and part style guide” and “guide to harnessing tenacity, passion, enthusiasm and hard work to make your dreams come true.” Big difference!
Lea has talked about all these topics before - why…

52gleek asked: That is how the whole fandom has been lately. People are so judgemental regarding someone elses real life. Oh, Lea,(and Cory, too)why aren't you doing a movie, why are you still on Glee,...Lea and Cory work with people to help make their decisions regarding their careers, I don't think these people are stupid. People need to stop pretending that they know what is best for Lea and Cory
Agreed.
I saw someone else make a really good comparison to George Clooney earlier.
George copped a lot of criticism from fans and media alike back in the day for sticking with his ER contract for the full five years. He could have left when he hit big but he was loyal, he was grateful and he was smart enough to know that success in movies wasn’t guaranteed just because he was in a hit TV show (see how well that worked out for David Caruso).
As this person also pointed out, George gets criticised for his coffee commercials - we see them here and have for years as they are shown in overseas markets - but he does them so he can fund his indie projects that he is far more interested in making than mainstream movies.
Lea’s contracts with Candies, L’Oreal, and even back to Dove and Nike, were smart moves, as they not only gave her an income stream outside of Glee, but because they broaden her profile beyond Glee.
This book is something that very much fits with Lea’s image as a role model to young girls of someone who doesn’t fit the mould, who’s had to overcome some prejudice to get where she is, so again, not a surprise that she is doing this.
Same with Cory doing a couple of indie movies. That’s really smart to give himself a showcase that shows he can be something other than Finn Hudson. It doesn’t matter how much money those film makes, it gives him something substantial that can be shown to movie directors and producers to show he has range.
Fans of Cory and Lea might think they are guaranteed big movie careers if they were to ditch Glee but they need a reality check. As talented as they both are, there is no guarantee they would have instant success in films so it’s no surprise that two smart people aren’t rushing away from Glee as some of their fans wish they were.
Anonymous asked: "fans" only seem to agree with what Lea is doing with her career when she's not around Cory. She is considered their "queen" on weeks when its a known fact Cory isn't with her and everything she does is like the "old" lea despite the fact that lea has always tweeted like she currently does. The continue to threaten to no longer be fans of hers, but they don't seem to realize they aren't fans to begin with. Lea does not need people like that in her life. they think too highly of themselves
Well in this case I wasn’t talking about the delusionals as I haven’t seen what they had to say although I can guess. They are entirely too predictable and not worth thinking about.
I was talking about the fans who think they know better than Lea about what she should do in her career and that she should be focusing on movies.
They seem to forget she has an album she is working on. Lea has said she wants to do that properly, give it proper attention, that’s why she waited as long as she did. I’d rather she focus on that and make it great than do a bunch of movies in the meantime.
There is a 12 month lead time just about for this book. She seems to be nearing the end of recording her album so this book is her next project while also doing Glee.
People also need to accept that maybe Lea isn’t doing movies right now because she’s not getting offered things she’s interested in. She had a tough job breaking into TV because of the prejudice against her “look”, she may well find the same problem with film. It’s a reality I think some fans aren’t willing to face. Hollywood is still Hollywood, it hasn’t changed that much since Lea got Glee. They still like a certain “type” when it comes to casting women.
Also, Lea may have had a bunch of offers for movies, they just aren’t ones she’s interested in doing, or maybe they can’t fit some things around her Glee schedule.
I’m interested in seeing this book, as I think someone like Lea, who not only started on Broadway at a young age, but who had a tough time breaking into TV (she was told she wasn’t pretty enough for TV) and was being told by agents to get a nose job, would have some very interesting things to say not only about her own career growing up on Broadway, but what it is like as an “ethnic” woman trying to get a break in Hollywood (she was also told she was too ethnic for TV, code for you look too Jewish).
